Rugile Alminaite

Rugile Alminaite is a self taught artist with no art education, who lives and creates in Buckinghamshire. Born and raised in Lithuania, she grew up surrounded by nature and spending lots of time by the Baltic Sea. She moved to the United Kingdom in 2010 after graduating from high school and went to Middlesex university and studied Psychology and Criminology. She lived in London until 2018, when she moved to Bucks.

Most of Rugile’s artwork is inspired by the sea and nature around her– it’s where she feels most spiritual and close to her creative side. She is also very much inspired by lovely memories of the Baltic Sea. She feel that her personal style expresses her energetic spirit, twinned with the atmosphere of the Baltic culture. She feels more creative in summer by the sea. Water is her element and the gentle sound of waves makes her mind relax and creativity pours out. One of her favourite things is painting miniature paintings on sea shells. Using a seashell as a canvas, creates a different and in depth spirit to her seascapes paintings.

In 2020, she took a different turn from just painting and started her own company called AJ Studios. AJ studios is a print business and makes greeting cards and watercolour prints.
