Lauretta Milligan

Lauretta Milligan

Lauretta Milligan was born in Cape Town, South Africa, and has lived with her family in England since 1999, after living in Hong Kong for ten years.

She started painting in watercolours in Hong Kong under Steven Thomas and continued painting in watercolours in England. She has successfully completed the City and Guilds Watercolours Diploma course at Missenden Abbey, with the guidance of Diana Stonehouse. Now she paints with the Studley Green Art Group on a weekly basis.

She finds the medium of watercolours exciting – the results are always different. She also enjoys experimenting in mixed media and specifically acrylics. She likes painting in vibrant colours with topics such as flowers and landscapes, and more recently animals such as elephants, returning to her African roots.

She has exhibited and sold her work locally including Longwick, Chinnor and Wendover art shows, and for the last couple of years she has participated in the Bucks Open Studios firstly at Bigmore Farm, Cadmore End, and recently at St Nicholas Church, Kingsey.

Lauretta’s work will be displayed at The Practice – 40 Upper High Street, Thame from 15-19 October.
