Jeannette Bilton

As an artist, Jeannette Bilton strives to create unique and imaginative art pieces every day.

Jeannette Hazell is a pastel artist known for her richly detailed drawings of British townscapes, animals, and coastal life. Working predominantly in soft pastels, her art captures the charm of historic villages, quirky architecture, and the quiet poetry of everyday scenes—whether it’s a heritage building or a seagull mid-flight.

Her creative process is uniquely her own: due to a chronic hip condition, Jeannette draws while lying down, often working late into the evening and into the early hours. This peaceful solitude helps her capture the mood and emotion behind each subject, lending her work a gentle, reflective quality.

Jeannette is currently developing her Quirky Towns series, celebrating life in and around the Chilterns. She is a creative partner of Thame Museum, where her artwork appears on a range of merchandise including prints, postcards, greeting cards, and mugs. She is also exhibiting a trio of Brighton-themed pieces depicting life on the beach and the spirit of the seaside.

Jeannette’s work will be displayed at Crew Clothing Company – 2 Cornmarket, Thame OX9 3DX from 11-19 October.
