Gerry Coles

Gerry Coles discovered and fell in love with printmaking after visiting an exhibition of relief prints in Bath. She works solely in linocut, most often using the reduction technique for her multicoloured prints. Her work typically depicts British wildlife and countryside.

Gerry is a member of Oxford Art Society and teaches Linocut workshops at her home studio. She exhibits and sells at local exhibitions throughout South Oxfordshire, including Thame Art Crawl, Henley Arts Trail, and Oxfordshire Art weeks. She also sells online in the UK and internationally.

One of Gerry’s prints “Christmas in the Covered Market” was selected to be included in the Oxford Art Book published in 2018. Another print is licensed as a postcard for use by guests at the Randolph Hotel in Oxford. Gerry’s Linocut “Clarinet: lines and spaces” was exhibited at the Royal 0Academy Summer Exhibition in 2024.

Gerry says “I love bold, graphic quality of a linocut. I relish the combination of artistry, technical challenge and luck that is  needed to produce a print, and I’m constantly in awe of what is revealed when the paper is peeled back from the block.”

Gerry’s work will be displayed at the Sally Evans Artist & Makers Fair   Thame Town Hall, Fri 18-Sat 19 October.
