Fatmagul Aaltonen

Fatmagul’s fused glass is based on texture and definition with many overlapping layers filled with small glass particles. She prefers to work with transparent glass, which sparkles with light; either on a windowsill reflecting the day light or on a mantel piece twinkling with candlelight.

Fatmagul is hugely influenced by nature’s colours, especially the Chilterns, where she lives and the Mediterranean sea, where she comes from.

Fatmagul designs and makes a variety of ornamental or functional unique items. They are created from sheets of glass, which are cut to shape and size and fired in her kiln called “Pablo” in her home studio. She exhibits regularly at Oxfordshire Art Weeks and at various fairs and markets around Watlington.

Future events are listed on her website.

Fatmagul accepts commission and recently started offering workshops in her new studio. To find out more get in touch on 07748 961 761 or send an email.

Fatmagul’s work will be displayed at Johnson’s Dry Cleaners – 20a Cornmarket, Thame from 15-19 October.
