David Shepherdson

David Shepherdson

Born in a small coal-mining village in Yorkshire, David Shepherdson had a long successful career in the Royal Air Force, after which he worked in a local authority school until his retirement.

David’s family immigrated to Australia in the early 70s and it was on a family visit to his parents that his father enticed David into trying woodturning.  The ability to transform a dead piece of wood into a beautiful and usable object had him hooked. This could also be why David has an abundance of exotic woods from the southern hemisphere in his workshop.

David is inspired and passionate about creating unique quality writing instruments. His work has been exhibited in galleries in Warwickshire, Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire.

He has had many commissions to make pens from treasured family mementoes, most notably an Erard Grand Piano.

Examples of his work can be found on his website and Facebook page and you can also follow him on Twitter and Instagram.

David’s work will be displayed at the Sally Evans Artist & Makers Fair   Thame Town Hall, Fri 18-Sat 19 October.
