As an artist, Alexandra Wright strives to create unique and imaginative art pieces every day.
Alexandra Wright is a UK-based painter and mixed media artist, currently reconnecting with her creative roots following a successful career in commercial design. She holds a BA (Hons) from Loughborough College of Art and Design and began her professional journey as a textile designer in the fashion and furnishing industry, where she was represented by two London-based agents.
She later co-founded The Wright Sisters, a design studio specialising in greetings cards and stationery. The studio’s distinctive style achieved international recognition and led to collaborations with well-known brands including Marks & Spencer, House of Fraser, Sutherland Fine Bone China, The Royal Shakespeare Company, and Lion Publishing. Her artwork has appeared on a wide variety of products, from textiles and wall coverings to clocks, gift books, and tableware.
After spending time abroad and raising a family, Alexandra has returned to her personal art practice with a renewed focus. As a painter and mixed media artist, she draws inspiration from the quiet beauty of everyday life, finding artistic potential in unexpected places.
She describes her practice simply: “I like to draw every day, even if it’s just something small. When you start looking, you find beauty in the strangest places and objects.”
This new chapter marks a return to hands-on creativity, blending her extensive design background with an intuitive, observational approach to artmaking.
Alexandra’s work will be displayed at GAIL‘s – 3 Cornmarket, Thame OX9 3YS from 11-19 October.
